Dún Laoghaire Rathdown (dlr) County Council is pleased to announce a call for proposals from children and young people, artists/creative practitioners, cultural organisations, and neighbourhood communities/organisations to be part of Creative Ireland’s Cruinniú na nÓg 2024.
Cruinniú na nÓg is the national day of free creativity for children and young people and will take place on Saturday 15th June 2024 across Ireland. It aims to celebrate and encourage children and young people’s (aged 0 – 18) participation in culture and creativity by providing free, accessible, activity-based creative action in their own locality. The emphasis of Cruinniú na nÓg is on doing, making, and creating.
For this proposal we are seeking projects that connect creatively with children and young people across dlr to celebrate their ideas and identities. Priority will be given to projects that occur in the run up to the 15th June, with a presentation or celebration taking place on that date. Proposals that are suitable for outdoor performance and could take place as part of dlr’s wider Cruinniú programme are welcomed.
Proposals should demonstrate how children’s voices will be included in the development, delivery, and evaluation of the initiative.
Applications can include any medium or a mix of creative activities and art forms (examples include but are not limited to performance, street art, fashion, photography, digital arts, literature, architecture, coding, biodiversity, folk life, heritage, archaeology, landscape).
Applications will be selected through a competitive context and will be assessed based on the following criteria:
Assessment Criteria:
- Proposals should demonstrate a high-quality creative process that is ambitious and original, provides a challenging, fun, and rewarding experience for the participants, and enables them to develop their skills.
- Cruinniú 2024 in dlr will celebrate People, Place and Language, and we warmly welcome projects that connect with this theme.
- We welcome applications that give access to groups of children and young people who have limited access to creative activities.
- We warmly welcome applications for activities that are delivered through the Irish language.
- Priority will be given to proposals that demonstrate how children will have ownership of the work they undertake and play an active role in decision making.
- Proposals responding to the priorities of the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Culture and Creativity Strategy 2023-2027: https://www.creativeireland.gov.ie/app/uploads/2019/12/Dun-Laoghaire-Rathdown.pdf are very warmly welcomed.
- All proposals must be within the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Administrative Area. In making our decisions, we will seek to ensure a geographic spread of activities across the region.
- All proposals must show feasibility of completion and presentation on 15th June 2024
- All proposals must have a clear and feasible budget (which is VAT inclusive).
- Fair pay for artists/creative professionals engaged in projects must be demonstrated in the budget in your application form.
- All proposals must be submitted by 5pm, MONDAY APRIL 8th 2024 by the online platform submit.com. Late submissions will not be accepted.
