Emerging Artist Bursaries support individual emerging artists from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown to develop and further their practice through the creation of new work at this vital stage in their career development.
Successful recipients will receive an award of €2,000 for the development and creation of new work during the period July-December 2025.
Individual artists working with all artforms (architecture, circus, craft, dance, film, literature, music, opera, spectacle, street art, theatre, traditional arts and visual arts) are eligible to apply.

dlr Emerging Artist Bursaries 2025 are generously funded by The Arts Council.
Artists must live in, be practicing in or be originally from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.
Individual artists working in all art-forms (architecture, circus, craft (designers/makers), dance, film, literature, music, opera, spectacle, street art, theatre, traditional arts and visual arts) are eligible to apply. (Please note the word artist refers to arts practitioners working in all artforms).
Employees of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council are not eligible to apply.
You cannot apply for funding for any activity you have already received funding for from dlr in the last 12 months. You can apply for a different project even if you have been successfully funded in the last 12 months.
Artists who have previously received an Emerging Artist Bursary from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council are not eligible to apply.
This opportunity is only available for emerging artists. Emerging artist is defined as someone who is early career within their chosen art-form and has some experience but has not yet established a solid reputation as an artist. Applicants must state why they categorise themselves as emerging.

A maximum of one application will be accepted from any one individual.
Grants will not cover building programmes, third party grants, or assistance to cover loans or deficits, projects which could be undertaken on a commercial basis, charity fundraising events, the hire fee of Council premises, international travel or third level education.
No late applications will be accepted
Applications should demonstrate the artistic merit and quality of previous work, the artistic merit and quality of their proposal and their ability to achieve outlined objectives within timeframe and budget.
A variety of artforms will be supported through this award.
