The objective of the Street Furniture Grant Scheme is to contribute to vibrant Town and Village centres by assisting and supporting the hospitality sector in the provision outdoor seating and accessories. High-quality street furniture enhances the appeal of town and village centres and supports the principles of the ‘shop local’ message by providing inviting spaces.
In order to place furniture in public places, applicants must be in possession of a Section 254 Street Furniture Licence, issued by Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and covering the area under consideration.
The scheme will provide up to 50% of the ex VAT cost of equipment purchased/installed, with a maximum allowable contribution of €2,000 per applicant.
What Items will be considered for the grant?
Any licensed furniture and accessories that support outdoor dining in the public realm may be considered for this grant. This includes tables, chairs, umbrellas, electric heaters, screens, etc.
Successful licence applicants will be considered eligible for the Street Furniture Grant, subject to compliance with the following terms and conditions.
· Furniture must be in the public realm, not on private property.
· Claims may only be made within 3 months of the purchase of street furniture.
· Claims must be accompanied by receipts for all items, photographs of the furniture in place and a copy of the Street Furniture Licence
· Furnishings may not carry any commercial branding other than the name of the business.
· Eligibility is limited to small independently run businesses where food is sold for consumption on the premises.
· Claimants must have no outstanding commercial rates (or must be in a payment plan).
· Applicant must not have received street furniture funding for the same licenced space within the past 3 years.
Furnishings on private outdoor spaces are not eligible for funding under this Scheme.
