dlr Arts Office is seeking applications for an external Learning Programme Co-ordinator for the 2021-22 Gallery Programme.
This will involve co-ordinating a series of seasonal public engagement workshops and events; 4 Learning Programmes per annum. It is anticipated that the programme will be a ‘blended’ programme of online and ‘in person’ subject to Public Health Guidelines, dlr Arts Office aims to keep some events online to encourage wider participation.
It is key that the Learning Programme appeals to all ages and abilities.
The period of appointment will be from late September 2021 – late September 2022; there will be an option to extend this for up to one year at the agreement of both parties.
Role of the Learning Co-ordinator:
· To co-ordinate a public engagement series for the casual visitor of all ages based on different art-forms and mediums; loosely responding to the artists/themes that will be on show in the Municipal Gallery where appropriate. The target audience has been identified as library visitors dlr residents, tourists/day visitors and the local arts community. The programme must have elements that appeal to all ages and abilities.
· The logistics i.e. engaging speakers, facilitators and artists is the role of the co-ordinator. The programme must be agreed in advance with dlr Arts Office before any external personnel are engaged. Please note that budgets and required staff for events may impact the number of events that can be programmed.
· The Learning Programme Co-ordinator will be required to attend a selected number of events (online and and/or in person) as part of the allocated days.
· Images and text for the Learning Programme events must be submitted for sharing/posting on social media, the co-ordinator will also assist with the wording for media releases.
The daily rate (8 hour day) is €215 including all professional fees and VAT (if applicable). It is anticipated that each seasonal programme will be 6-8 days work.
The following criteria will apply and be weighed accordingly:
- Demonstrated experience of programming and co-ordination of learning and engagement programmes in a museum/gallery setting. (Provide C.V. with full details of prior relevant experience. This should relate to the outlined specification of requirements in the role description and should evidence experience of similar work undertaken in a comparable museum/gallery setting.) Supplementary materials may be provided. This may be added as attachments. (60% will be assigned to this criteria).
- Demonstrated ability to programming arts activities for all ages and varying abilities. (Provide a sample programme of workshops and events for a Summer Programme indicating what can be achieved to appeal to different ages and varying abilities) This may be added as an attachment.(40% will be assigned to this criteria).

Insurance:
The selected co-ordinator agrees to keep Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council fully indemnified against all claims howsoever arising and howsoever caused in respect of any damage, loss or injury of any kind or nature, whether arising directly or indirectly from the provision of the residency and to provide evidence of Public Liability insurance which indemnifies Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Count Council with a limit of indemnity of €6.5 million.
Garda Vetting:
Full Garda Clearance will be a requirement for this role. It is a legal requirement that all persons working with children, young people and vulnerable people are subject to Garda Vetting. In accordance with national child protection policy, Children First National Guidelines for the Protection and Welfare of Children, awarded recipients working with children must have a child protection policy, proper procedures and a child safeguarding statement in place.
